EPC Rating Check

EPC Rating Check is a free online tool for checking the energy rating of any home in England and Wales.

Enter a postcode, pick the address, and you'll see the property's current EPC band, the date it was lodged and when it expires. The data comes live from the government's energy performance register, and there's no sign-up and no charge.

The tool is useful if you are:

• buying or renting and want to know how efficient a home is before you view it

• selling and need to check whether your certificate is still valid

• a landlord checking that your rentals meet the minimum rating rules

If your certificate has expired or is missing, you can request an assessment through the site, and an accredited domestic energy assessor will contact you directly. A domestic EPC typically costs £60–£120.

The site also has plain-English guides on how EPC ratings work, what a certificate costs, how to get one, and the rules for landlords.

EPC Rating Check is based in Chadwell Heath and is not the official EPC register.
