Maldon

Maldon is a historic market town and district in mid-Essex, located at the head of the Blackwater Estuary. With a population of around 21,000, it is renowned worldwide as the home of Maldon Sea Salt, which has been harvested from the estuary waters since the 12th century. The town's most distinctive feature is Hythe Quay, where restored Thames sailing barges are moored along the waterfront, several of which offer day trips and charters. Promenade Park provides 14 acres of lakeside gardens, play areas, and a splash park overlooking the estuary. The Battle of Maldon in 991 AD is one of the most celebrated events in Anglo-Saxon history, commemorated by a statue on the riverside promenade.
