Social Worker - Children Looked After Team - Permanent

Join Southend-on-Sea’s Children Looked After (CLA) Team as a permanent Qualified Social Worker, supporting children and young people once care proceedings have concluded. This is a rewarding Social Care role in Essex, offering meaningful long-term work, manageable caseloads (around 16–18), and the chance to make a lasting difference to outcomes for looked after children.

Key Responsibilities
- Hold a caseload of children looked after, delivering high-quality statutory social work and care planning
- Build strong relationships with children, carers, and partner agencies to promote stability, wellbeing, and permanency
- Complete assessments, plans, and reviews, ensuring recording is timely, accurate, and compliant
- Contribute to court-related activity including revocation of care orders, contact disputes, and adoption orders where required
- Attend meetings, reviews, and multi-agency forums, advocating for children’s best interests throughout

What You’ll Need
- Social Work qualification (DipSW, BA/MA) and Social Work England registration
- Post-qualifying experience in children’s services; CLA experience is highly desirable
- Confidence with statutory processes, case recording, and working to timescales
- Court work experience (preferred), with strong report-writing and professional judgement
