Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated Support Worker who share our values to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including nursing homes and home care environments. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for those in your care by supporting their daily activities and promoting their independence. As a Support Worker you will be required to work individually and as part of a team to support and enable service users to participate in a range of activities, ensuring their needs are met and facilitating a friendly, safe and sociable environment.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care and support to individuals, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
Assist with medication administration and monitoring clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
Implement behaviour management strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviours.
Engage in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation, particularly for those with dementia.
Maintaining accurate records of patient care and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Foster a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that encourages independence and self-esteem.
Assistance with both catheter and continence care, PEG feeding, meal preparation, dressing and shopping

Requirements

Previous experience in a care setting, such as nursing homes or home care, is highly desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
Good verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with dementia care practices, experience in end of life care and working with multidisciplinary teams is beneficial
Knowledge of medication administration procedures is an advantage
Experience in dementia care or working with vulnerable clients is an advantage
A valid first aid certification is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
A genuine passion for providing high-quality care and support to those in need
