Anyone know a good, reasonably priced groomer for a slightly nervous rescue spaniel in Braintree? We’ve tried a couple of places near the George Yard Shopping Centre but he still comes out a bit stressed, so I’m wondering if there’s someone calmer people rate. Also, are there any regular dog meet-ups at Braintree & Bocking Public Gardens or around the River Brain path near Panfield Lane that are friendly for shy dogs? Would love a few local recommendations.

We’ve had a good experience with Scruffy 2 Fluffy over on Springwood Drive in Braintree – they were really patient with our nervous rescue and didn’t rush him. Not sure about organised meet-ups, but there’s often a few calm regulars along the River Brain path by Panfield Lane early mornings; what time do you usually go?

We switched to a mobile groomer for our anxious rescue and it was miles calmer than anywhere round George Yard as they can take it really slow at home. For meet-ups, there isn’t anything official at Braintree & Bocking Gardens that I know of, but late morning weekdays on the River Brain path tend to be quieter if you fancy a gentle first try.

We use Paws & Relax on Manor Street and they’ll do a quick “get to know you” visit first, which really helped our skittish spaniel. I’ve not seen any official meet-ups at Braintree & Bocking Gardens, but there’s usually a small, quiet group by the River Brain footpath entrance near Panfield Lane around 7ish if that suits.
