Posted 5 Oct 2026Ackerman Pierce Education is recruiting a 1:1 SEN Tutor in Colchester to deliver tailored, supportive learning for children and young people who can’t currently access mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity to shape outcomes locally in Essex, with flexible, term-time hours and a strong focus on meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver personalised 1:1 sessions as part of Alternative Provision (AP)
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEND needs, abilities and learning styles
- Set clear targets and track progress with accurate records and feedback
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, families and professionals
- Liaise with local authorities and multi-agency teams to support engagement and safeguarding
What You’ll Need
- Experience supporting or teaching children/young people with SEND (tutoring, teaching, HLTA or similar)
- Strong behaviour support skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Confidence delivering English, Maths or wider curriculum content (depending on learner needs)
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and a solid understanding of safeguarding
