Posted 4 Oct 2026As a SEND Tutor (1:1 Support) in Southend-on-Sea with Ackerman Pierce Education, you’ll deliver tailored learning that helps children and young people thrive when mainstream school isn’t currently the right fit. This is a rewarding opportunity to build flexible term-time hours (up to 30 per week) and make a real impact across Essex.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 tutoring as part of Alternative Provision programmes, aligned to each learner’s EHCP and goals
- Plan and deliver engaging sessions in core subjects and functional skills, adapting to needs and pace
- Use positive behaviour and trauma-informed approaches to build trust, confidence and attendance
- Track progress with clear notes and feedback, sharing updates with local authority contacts and families
- Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries in all settings
What You’ll Need
- Experience supporting learners with SEND (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD) in a tutoring, school or support role
- A teaching/tutoring background (QTS, HLTA, or strong tutoring experience welcomed)
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to personalise learning effectively
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain) and a solid safeguarding understanding
