Has anyone got a good recommendation for a proper Sunday roast in Southend that isn’t a nightmare to park near? I’m torn between trying somewhere around Leigh Broadway or sticking closer to the seafront near Adventure Island, but I’d love a place that does decent veg and gravy (not just a sad drizzle). Bonus points if it’s walkable from Chalkwell Park or near a handy bus stop on London Road—where do you all rate?
If you’re after decent veg and proper gravy, I’d go Leigh Broadway – The Peterboat’s roast is solid and you can usually park on the side streets off the Broadway then stroll along. Are you needing it to be genuinely walkable from Chalkwell Park, or is a quick hop on the London Road bus still fine?
Try The Hamlet Court in Westcliff – it’s a short walk from Chalkwell Park and there’s usually on-street parking round Hamlet Court Road if you’re there for lunch, plus the roasts come with proper gravy. Are you set on beef/pork or happy with chicken/veg options?
