Anyone else noticed the new signage going up along the High Street near the Co-op, by the turn for Trinity Street? I’m thinking of doing a little weekend wander down to the Rec and then stopping at The Bluebell Inn for a pint, but would love to hear if there are any decent new bits in town worth checking out (especially any independent cafés or the charity shops). What’s everyone’s go-to spot in Halstead at the moment?

Has anyone else noticed the traffic getting a bit daft along High Street and down towards Head Street lately, especially around school run time? I’m thinking of popping into The Blueberry for a coffee after a walk round Bishops Hall Park this weekend — any other good spots in town for a quiet sit-down that aren’t too rammed? Also, if anyone’s got a decent local takeaway recommendation (something other than the usual chippy), I’m all ears.

Anyone else noticed the river’s been looking gorgeous along the Quay this week? I’m thinking of a quick walk from the station down Station Road, past the Anchor, then along to Riverside Park for a sit — any recommendations for a decent coffee or a good bacon roll on the way (the little cafés on the High Street seem to vary)? Also, is there a quieter spot to watch the boats without getting in everyone’s way near the yacht clubs?
