Tried the new-ish Turkish place along Market Street by The Harvey Centre after a walk round Harlow Town Park, and the grilled lamb and fresh bread were spot on for the price. I usually end up at the Coach & Horses on Station Road for a pint, but I’m after somewhere in Old Harlow that does a decent Sunday roast without feeling too chain-y. Any recommendations, or hidden gems near the Stow or down by Potter Street?
Might be worth trying The Chequers near the High Street in Old Harlow, their roast is decent and it still feels like a proper local rather than a chain. Do you want somewhere you can just walk to from the Stow, or are you happy to nip out towards Potter Street?
If you’re after a proper roast that’s not chain-y, The Crown in Old Harlow usually does a decent one and it’s not far from the Stow. That Turkish spot by The Harvey Centre is a good shout though – did you try any of the mezze?
If you don’t mind a short drive, The Green Man out at Potter Street does a cracking Sunday roast and it’s got that proper village pub feel. Was the Turkish place busy when you went after Town Park?
If you’re up for something a bit different, The Kings Head in Old Harlow does a solid Sunday roast and still feels like a proper local rather than a chain. What time do you usually head out after a walk round Town Park, lunchtime or later?
