Does anyone know what’s going on with the roadworks by Romford Brewery on Waterloo Road near The Mawney Arms? I tried cutting through Lodge Farm Park for a quieter walk after popping into the Market for veg, but the usual route felt a bit churned up. If you’ve found a decent alternative way round (or a good local café to duck into while it’s all a mess), shout below.
I walked past Romford Brewery on Waterloo Road yesterday and it looked like they’re doing utilities so it’s all fenced off by The Mawney Arms. I ended up skirting Lodge Farm Park via the edge path and ducked into The Bean Café in the Market for a brew while it calmed down.
Saw a notice up by the Romford Brewery saying temporary lights and lane closures for drainage repairs, reckon it’ll drag on a bit. For a quieter walk I’ve been going round the back of Lodge Farm Park along the residential streets and then cutting back towards the Market.
I heard it’s resurfacing works so Waterloo Road’s going to be a pain for a couple of weeks yet. If you’re cutting through Lodge Farm Park, try sticking to the main tarmac path by the pitches, and Moot House Coffee near the Market’s a decent stop if you need to kill time.
Not sure what the works are, but the bit by Romford Brewery has been backing up traffic at school run time so I’ve been going round via Mawney Road instead of Waterloo. Have you tried popping into Atik for a coffee, or are you after somewhere proper quiet?
