Posted 5 Oct 2026Join The Forward Trust as a Reconnect Trainee Worker in Chelmsford and help people rebuild their lives as they move from custody back into the community. This 12–18 month apprenticeship offers hands-on experience, expert support, and the chance to work towards a Level 2 qualification while making a real difference across Essex.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals pre- and post-release, helping them prepare for a safe return to the community
- Build trusted relationships and provide practical guidance on housing, health, benefits and local services
- Work alongside prisons, probation and community partners to coordinate seamless resettlement support
- Keep accurate case notes and contribute to plans that reduce barriers to employment and stability
- Signpost and refer people to specialist services, ensuring safeguarding and confidentiality standards are met
What You’ll Need
- A genuine commitment to supporting people with complex needs in a non-judgemental way
- Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to work calmly under pressure
- Good IT and admin skills to maintain records and manage tasks effectively
- Desirable: understanding of criminal justice, resettlement, substance misuse or mental health (training provided)
