We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Part-Time Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The current hours available are 3 full days Wednesday - Friday. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for numbers and accounting to contribute to the smooth financial operations of our organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, be proficient in various accounting software, and have a keen eye for accuracy. You will be joining a well-established team and play an integral role in managing all financial aspects of the company. You will be directly answering to the company Managing Director with all financial matters.
Duties
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Sage line50
- Raising and approving all sales invoices
- Emailing customers regarding additional costs incurred where applicable
- Data entry of purchases to Sage Line50
- Monthly budget/management accounts
- Ordering of office stationery/supplies when required
- VAT returns on a quarterly basis
- Sage management accounts up to trial balance
- General administration of accounts paperwork/folders
- Credit control by email and phone calls on a weekly/monthly basis
- Answering any overflow phone calls when transport team are busy
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial reports as required
- Assist with payroll processing and employee expense claims
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings
- Maintain organised filing systems for all financial documents
- Liaise with external accountants and provide necessary documentation
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and relevant financial regulations
Experience
- Proven experience working with accounting software Sage essential
- Minimum 5 years advanced sage 50 usage
- Excellent telephone manner
- Strong Microsoft office skills
- Minimum 5 years previous small/multi company bookkeeping skills
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes and general ledger management
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule
- Capable of prioritising own workload and keeping to timely deadlines
- Familiarity with basic payroll procedures and statutory reporting is advantageous
