Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning, routines, and the wider curriculum
- Assist the class teacher with planning, adapting resources, and delivering inclusive activities
- Support pupils’ communication, sensory regulation, and positive behaviour strategies in line with individual plans
- Build safe, trusting relationships with pupils and contribute to a calm, structured learning environment
- Record progress and observations, working closely with teachers, therapists, and families
What You’ll Need
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND (school, care, youth work, or similar)
- A patient, resilient approach and the ability to follow guidance on behaviour and safeguarding
- Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in autism and complex needs
- Desirable: Team-Teach/positive handling, Makaton, PECS, or classroom-based SEN training
